The common area loads of the community includes the commercial outlet shops and the common area lighting and the water pumps. The commercial outlets are connected to a commercial meter whose energy tariff rate is above Rs. 9 and generated high electricity bills for the apartment association.

True to the term referred to them as a model society, the association decided to install a 9.8kWp solar rooftop system to reduce the electricity bills. The system is able to generate ~1200 units in a month resulting in savings of Rs.11,000.00 per month for the association. The system generations are equivalent to savings of 10 metric tonnes of CO2 per annum\saving ~260 trees per annum.

Since the community has been maintained for more than 25 years, the association members were very clear on the aspects of maintenance and longevity of systems. Hence instead of choosing regular string inverters and polycrystalline panels, they opted for SolarEdge Power Optimiser system with high efficient MonoCrystalline panels. from Waaree .
