On 24/02/2024, EcoSoch’s Solarcare team carried out its routine panel cleaning of one of our installations at Brigade Altamont. The capacity of the system is 100.8kWp with SolarEdge inverter technology:

The installation is divided into 3 systems each with a capacity of 33.6kWp for the apartment’s Water Treatment Plant(WTP), Sewage Treatment Plant(STP) and Common Area (CA).
Before Cleaning:
Total generation in 6 days = 2548.23 kWh.
Average per day = 2548.23 / 6 = 424.7 kWh = 424.7 units per day
The panels generated an average of 424.7 units per day for the whole week (Sunday – Thursday)
Specific Yield per kW per day before cleaning = 424.7/100.8 = 4.21 units/kW
After Cleaning:
Total generation in 6 days = 1.03MWh + 1.08MWh + 1.04MWh= 1.15MWh = 3150kWh.
Average per day = 3150 / 6 = 525 kWh = 525 units per day
The panels generated an average of 525 units per day for the whole week (Sunday – Thursday)
Specific Yield per kW per day after cleaning = 525/100.8 = 5.20 units/kW
Analysis:
We can see the difference in generation before and after cleaning of the panels:
Before cleaning = 424.7 units per day
After cleaning = 525 units per day
Difference = 525 – 424.7 = 100.3 units
So, almost 25% increase in generation can be observed after cleaning the panels.
Difference in savings:
Considering the rates for apartments as Rs 7.50 per unit:
Bill savings in a month: 100.3 (units difference per day) x 7.50 (cost per unit import) x 30 (days) = Rs 22,567.
Therefore, we can clearly see from the calculations above that just by cleaning the solar panels regularly, gain around 25% more.
