A number of customers are requesting for non-penetrative solutions for their sloped roof (whether it be sheet roof or RCC roof) since they are concerned about water leakages. In case of apartments or institutions with sloped RCC roof, the resident living on the topmost floor is sometimes unwilling to give permission to drill onto the roof. To alleviate all of these concerns, we have adhesive based solutions that have proven themselves on the field and are flexible enough to be used on both sheet roof or RCC roof.

EcoSoch too has tested these adhesives by fixing sample structures on sheet roof and RCC roof. You are welcome to have a look at these sample structures on top of our office roof. Photos and videos of the installation and testing are provided below:

Non-penetrating structures for sheet roof

First, the sheet roof surface needs to be buffed so that there is proper adhesion between the sheet roof and mounting structure. Refer to the below video to understand how the sheet roof is prepared

Next, the adhesive is applied onto the sheet roof and the structure is fixed

Testing

Pull Out Test on Solar Mounting System Brackets bonded to sheet roof

On 1st Oct 2019, we installed the mini rail structure to the sheet roof using adhesive and we did a testing after 4 months on 4th Feb 2020

Non-penetrating structures for sloped RCC roof

There are many sloped RCC roof buildings (like in image below) whose owners have expressed interest towards installing rooftop solar systems but their only condition is that there should be no drilling onto the roof. To cater to their requirements, we have adhesive based solutions and structures that could be installed without the need to do roof penetrations. Mounting and routing of other components like conduits, cable trays and earth strips also would be without roof penetrations.

First, the flat roof surface needs to be cleaned and the mounting structure should be buffed so that there is proper adhesion between the roof and mounting structure. Refer to the below video to understand the installation process

Next, the adhesive is applied onto the buffed metal surface and the structure is fixed to the roof

Testing

The surface area under contact is 500sq.mm and the sample has been fixed on a concrete roof using adhesive. Post installation the brackets have been exposed to elements for 10 days.

On 1st Oct 2019, we installed the flat roof structure to the roof using adhesive and we did a testing after 4 months on 4th Feb 2020.

Besides the mounting structure, we also ensure that roof penetration is not done for the other components like conduits, cable trays and earth strips by making use of PCC and Adhesive as shown below:
