Bengaluru Energy Supply COMpany (BESCOM) hiked the electricity tariff by 5%. It’s not just the temperature that’s increasing but also our electricity tariff!
There will be an increase of 33 paisa per unit of energy for BESCOM jurisdiction customers. This is applicable to eight districts in Karnataka –
Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapura, Kolar, Davanagere, Tumakuru, Chitradurga and Ramanagara which are under BESCOM territory.
The last hike was announced in October 2018. It means that in less than a year electricity tariff was increased twice. This is increasing the burden on people with growing expenses.
What is an alternative in such a condition?
Solar rooftop! A right alternative for the increasing electricity tariffs is a solar rooftop. It might look a hefty price at the time of installation. When compared with the increasing electricity bills the cost of Solar had come down drastically over the period of time. We need to realise that it’s a one-time investment where it will pay back and also save the financials along with environmental benefit when looked in the long term.
With the electric mobility picking up in order to fight climate change, and the government announcing to eliminate diesel vehicles eventually, the demand for electricity will increase making the per unit tariff even higher in coming years. With all these upcoming the great alternative to consider at this moment is solar rooftop!
